Rapid Liquid Printing

Since December 2021, I have worked as a mechanical systems engineer at the Charlestown, MA-based startup Rapid Liquid Print.

At Rapid Liquid Print, we do silicone 3D printing in a gel suspension bath, enabling support-free parts with minimal postprocessing. My primary responsibilities include managing all instructions passed to our printers through the postprocessor and the human-machine interface, building out the electronical and software control system, and designing and manufacturing mechanical components for the printers.

The languages used for the interface are Javascript (with the Vue library), and the postprocessors are written in Python and C#. The components are designed in Fusion360 and manufactured on our manual mill and lathe.

While we've worked with automotive, prosthetic, and footwear industries, and many others, my favorite prints are museum models. The mask of Dante Alighieri, bust of Queen Nefertiti, and the Venus de Milo all ended up being perfect for refining our custom toolpathing algorithms and machine control features.
