Climate Clock
During my time at the NYU MakerSpace, I was assigned to help the team that converted the Monument Clock in Union Square to the Climate Clock, and to design and build a smaller, maker-accessible version.
In designing a "desktop" version of the Climate Clock, we discussed what the essential message was and the best way to communicate it. We settled on a design that could be set up in a public place but was still buildable with typical makerspace tools, by members of a community that would be able to publicize that message and the importance of the IPCC deadline.
I focused on a laser-cuttable and 3D-printable enclosure to surround the LED matrix display, controlled by a Raspberry Pi. The components were designed in Fusion360, with the final version mounted above the a TA station at the NYU MakerSpace.
